Well we left home on Friday morning thinking we were prepared for world war 3, boy, were we wrong. Right from the start things went wrong leaving an hour later than we wanted to.

Anyway we where on our way singing along to our tunes at the top of our lungs, to any tunes we knew the words to.

I was expecting a one and a half-hour drive, three hours later we arrived at the track pit area. Apon arrival we saw that the event was going to be tough, the dirt was like clay, it was overcast and trying very hard to rain. We decided to take a walk along the what felt like a one km pit area to see if we could see all of our riding mates and all the top boys in the country. Much to our dislike, we got to the end of the pits and the heavens opened, and it pored down, we had to run back to our cars at the start of the pits.

Then we were off to documentation. As I walked in I was greeted with some laughs from some rather pretty documentation girls, I felt like the man, so I turned around to my team to brag that the girls where happy to see me, however, I see my brother Phillip riding a statue of a rhino, they where laughing at him so I guess the joke was on me.

The rain gave us a brake, so we decided to make tracks to our campsite and get our tents up before the rain came again. We arrive to find that some one had put every thorn in the country at our campsite. We got our tents up and found that the thorns where pushing through the tents and the popped our blow up mattresses and our feet, and of course put holes in the bottom of our tents.

We settled down for the night and the rain came if it wasn’t for one of our sponsors CDT containers, giving us a great gazebo we would have not been able to eat or sit out side. We the found our tents to be leaking like sieves from the bottom and top. We were then in the rain again trying to waterproof our tents by using some plastic etc to cover our tents. We did not sleep well that night.

We woke up at 5am to find it had not stopped raining after raining the entire night, the ground was like clay we could hardly walk without slipping. We got to the track to find the same thing, red clay and mud everywhere.

Then the start of the race. My first corner no brakes, we where just sliding on the clay so I decided to take it easy. Within 5 kms of the 90kms first lap I had to take my goggles off, big mistake. Trying to overtake people with no goggles in the mud is no easy task. First lap was ok by the time I got to half way pitstop I look behind me to see Brett Allan, he was on fire going very fast. I eventually got to the end of the lap. We went through 200L of water between 3 of us trying to clean some of the mud off us. I told everyone that Brett would be right behind me only to be told by another team that they saw Brett had a crash and he was out.

I then left for my 2nd lap of 90kms. Once again 10kms in I had to take off my goggles. It was at this time the top 2 wheelers had cought me, now when those guys come past you they have to roost you for some reason, by the time the 5th one had gone past me I had so much mud in my left eye it would not open. I pulled over 10kms from the half way stop to phone ahead, to my awesome pit crew, and say don’t worry im ok, but I’m out and will limp to half way so they can pick me up. Now 10km’s in mud with guys coming past me like I was looking for parking is NO easy task. I got there to find my pit crew had left to look for me so I had to wait. Thank you to team BMW who took me under there wing throwing about 20L of water in my eyes and about a litter of milk, they wrapped me in plastic to try keep me warm. My brother was on his way to fetch me and take me to the medics when his car broke down. So they phoned Brett to meet them on the road grab my trailer and come fetch me. I kept trying to call them throwing every swearword under the sun saying im going blind they didn’t know what to say so they just put the phone down on me ha ha bastards, but don’t blame you. What felt like hours they arrived to help me.

As I got in the car I was handed my first beer in 2 weeks, even though I could not see, I dropped that beer like 2nd period maths class. We stopped then to help Phillip in his broken down car. Team, mate Cobus Grobler pulled up in the back of his car and he was almost in tears his eyes where in so much pain. I then learnt that one of our fellow races a LADY racer had stopped next to Brett in the first lap she walked up to him dropped to her knees and ask Brett to urinate in her eyes as she was in so much pain she begged but out of respect, Brett could not do that. If it wasn’t for our perfect pit crew Renier and Pa, Phillips car would still be sitting on the side of the N2.

We got back to the main pits. By this time I was druuunk ha ha. Walking around with no pants on, trying to flirt with every women I could find, all the while my beautiful girlfriend was right next to me, it was crazy ha ha good times. We signed out of the race and a couple chats with everyone and heard their stories and we where off to the camp site. We then ran out of drink and we where off to get some more now in my slightly inebriated state I was in the final stage of the world rally championship and rallied Phillips truck, hand braking every corner and going hell for leather out of the game farm where we were camping, was good fun. Apon our return I decided to go walk about to find some of our team mates, on the way there we got lost in the bush, but managed to make it back to camp, don’t ask me how. My party was short lived as I passed out after that.

We woke up in the morning to find we all had the runs, so bad that Brett farted to which we laughed. Apon looking at his serious face he had sharted in his pants, we where all on the floor laughing so hard. We had a beautiful breakfast and after the longest packing up process ever, we left to go home.

We thought it would be plain sailing, gee we were wrong, once again Phillips make a plan job to get the car running had failed, we spent about 5 sessions on the side of the high way trying to get it right, don’t ask us how but was a miracle we got home.

We where finally home safe and sound, now was time for shower, food, bed.

Even though we were tested to the max been through so much pain and money we cannot wait to do it again.

Well done to ZMSA on their great event they pulled off

Well done team EMG

Cobus Grobler: pulled out 10kms before the end of his 180kms race
Gavin Johnson: pulled out 45kms before the end of his 180kms race
Harry Timmerman: finished 3rd well done my man flying our team flag high
Brett Allan: crashed and was out after about 55kms
Warren Bazley: finished 5th well done my man

I know this sounds bad but like only 30 people out of 250 finished the race

From small beginings

So as a young kid I have wanted a bike and wanted a dad who owned a bike shop. Well that
Didn’t happen. I have always had a passion for off road bikes.

I figure I tell you a bit about how emg racing came about.

I started my first mach job at a jetski shop called liquid jetsports the best jetski shop
Ever, I had the best boss ever teaching me everything he knows. I soon became very well
Known it the jetski community, my best result being 2nd in SA for jetski freeride, and
Winning the SA national class for 800cc racing.

About a year in I sold my car to buy a bike.
My baby a 2004 Yamaha yfz 450 4stroke not bad for my first bike ey.

I was straight into racing however having a bad year and only finishing 2 of the 6 races.

I then moved jobs to another jetski shop. In this time I thought to my self, this is the
Best sport on the planet, but man its expensive. I decided to do some research see what I
Could do to get some parts for cheap and try sell them.
I landed my first dealership of parts. I started to test the waters. Its was good, and so
emg racing was born.

2nd race session has started, we had a race team my brother and I and another. The session
Was good, trying to get sponsors for the team, setting up more contacts and connections. We
Finished the session with myself 2nd overall and our other teammate 3rd overall.

I then decided to leave my job and concentrate on emg full time.

Its now a year later, things have been hard but rewarding. We now have the biggest team in
Our league the best pit crew and the most fun at all our races whilst our team is finishing
Around 5th position every race. We have most dealerships we would like to have, we have a
Great website getting alot of hits, we have a great emg racing group on facebook. And a fast
Growing customer base.

In short I started a shop to help this wicked cool sport grow by giving the best prices and
Service I can, in return we have been given much support and we are able to help the sport
Grow while doing what we love.

Remember if you not racing everything else is just waiting
